Ode to My Daughter
A heartfelt poem for my baby girl
Born in to this world
A sweet baby girl
All babies are beautiful
But you, the most
.
The rocking chair
Nearly wore out
Sang Winnie the Pooh
To the beat of you name
.
Your dirty blonde hair
Your chub, chubby cheeks
You wouldn’t believe
How much love I felt
.
My smile
And your smile
So much in sync
Our eyes the same
.
Watching you grow
Exploring the world
Eyes wide open
No bounds did you know
.
Off to school
First day many tears
Those were all mine though
Hard letting go
.
Years flew by
All-Star Cheer
National stage
Dad choked up with pride
.
Middle school came
You seemed so little still
I marveled at
The girl who had grown too fast
.
High school came
You froze in your tracks
Anxiety
Eating its way through your brain
.
Struggles a plenty
Fighting with you
For you
We’ll figure this out
.
No matter the pain
Laughter, sorrows, and tears
Whatever fears you have
I’ll be with you through all my years
.

Such a wonderful poem. Your daughter is lucky to have such a caring dad like you.
