Down for the Count
A "bugs" tale...Hint, it's a personal poem 'bout me.
I’m on my back
Down on the pavement
Baking in the sun
As I stare up at the sky
Have you ever felt helpless
Like a bug on its back
And you’re left lying
there to die?
I’ve felt that a lot
In this season of life.
Only difference is, I am left to trudge on
And try to answer why.
How did I get here?
Where did time go?
Why is my life
So damn hard?
Was I dealt a bad hand?
Am I just a joker?
In this hysterical
game of cards.
Unlike the bug,
I get to fight on.
And see it to a
Natural end.
So, I take a deep breath.
I dust myself off.
And pick myself off
The “cement”.
